THE SECRET.... TO EVERYTHING YOU WANT IN YOUR LIFE

I never buy DVD's because when I watch something once, I'm done with it, I don't need to own it.  That's what I call a dust collector.  But the other day, I bought a DVD called THE SECRET.

I have watched this DVD for two days in a row and I will watch it again and again until it's message is ingrained in my mind.  These are words of wisdom that I already knew, but it was a powerful reminder of how we should all live our lives.  Let me tell you what the secret is...... You can have anything you want. Words and thought have power.  Ask for anything you want, accept that it will be given to you and be willing to receive it. The hard part for me is the receiving.  I need to work on that.

Yes, I know you're rolling your eyes right now.  Hey, I want a clean kitchen floor too, but I have to put out the effort to get down on my hands and knees to collect the dried maccaroni cemented into the floor by the stove.  Ish.  Yes, we do have real life issues, but let's take a look at the bigger picture.

The Universe functions on only one law.  That being, the law of attraction.  We all attract to us whatever we are thinking.  If you continually think you are poor, you will be poor.  If you think your job sucks, it will suck.  If you think you are lonely, you will be lonely.  Got it?

Let me give you an example.  Let's say you hate potato salad.  Everyone knows you do, but it keeps showing up at every family picnic, every family dinner.  Everyone else likes it, but you are so focused on that potato salad, you don't see the rest of the dinner.  You keep reminding everyone that you hate potato salad and yet, it keeps appearing.  Instead of screaming you hate potato salad, you would be better off saying "Thank you, but I would like to choose something else". Maybe you'll begin to notice the pasta salad or the fruit tray. Be grateful for the other options presented to you.  Make a positive statement rather than a negative statement.

A few years ago, I took my daughter and her best friend to the mall.  While in the car, I listened to their conversation.  My daughter's friend kept interjecting the word ‘like'.  Every other word was ‘like'.  It began to grate on me so much that I interrupted  the conversation.  "Melissa, I want you to try and talk without using the word like".  She was speechless. For the rest of the ride to the mall, she was utterly dumbfounded and very quiet.  She found it difficult to change her words and her thought process.

The last couple of days, I have walked in Melissa's shoes - dumbfounded and speechless.  I didn't realized how many negative words came out of my mouth.  I had always thought of myself as a very positive person.  But I found myself continually choosing words such as NO, I don't want that, I'm not gonna do that, that will never happen to me.  All negative.  I am now learning how to speak in the positive.  It's really hard work, but it can be done.

The DVD suggested that I make my intentions very clear.  What do I want?  Immediately, I thought "I want more money". Don't we all - business hasn't been good for me this quarter.  I kid you not – within ten minutes, a woman entered my shop who is in the same business  I am.  After talking to her for an hour or so, I found that I was not currently up to date in the world of our trade and I was charging to little for my services. Ding - Ding - Ding! I just got a raise! I will forever be grateful for her knowledge,her gift of newly found friendship and the positive influence she graced upon my business. 

Upon her departure, another woman came into my shop.  With big eyes and a sense of awe, she asked me if I was famous.  With laughter, I told her I was not.  She said, and I kid you not.. again, "You must be THE SECRET".   She was such a delight to my day that we talked for over two hours.  She is an artist, an abstract painter.  We have so much in common. We became soulmates and best of friends immediately . Without knowing that I had set sail to my financial boat only a couple of  hours earlier, she commissioned me to create an art quilt for her new home. 

Things like this do happen to me on a regular basis.  I am constantly shown that there is no such thing as coincidence.  There is a time for every season and a reason for everything that happens under the sun.  I just needed a reminder.

I look forward to all the wonderful new experiences that I have now allowed to enter into my life.  I will choose my words very carefully and only speak in the positive.  I will continue to send love to others and open my heart to receive love and abundance in return.  Quit rolling your eyes and laughing at me!  Try it!  You have nothing to lose.
