Quite frequently I allow myself to have ‘play day' in the studio. This is when I allow myself the entire day to create a small piece with no thought in mind as to what that will be. Purely spontaneous and serendipitous. Two years later, after Jumpin' Jive was finished, this piece was titled and had a purpose.
